"Thy Word
is a lamp . . . and a Light"
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my
path."
Psalm 119:105
Fall is coming upon us, where the days will be shorter,
and the nights darkness will come earlier in the
evening. I work third shift, live in the country, and
was just sitting here thinking of traveling once again
in the dark hours.
Have you ever been out driving down a dark country road
with no streetlights to give you any notion of where you
are? It's sometimes a little scary. Although you can
rely on your vehicles headlights, they only allow you to
see about 10 yards of road in front of you. You see
where to go for that little stretch, and as you travel,
that 10-yard stretch of road, the headlights show you 10
more yards, and 10 more, and so on, until you reach your
destination safe and sound.
Well, this is how we should be living by faith. We
aren't able to see tomorrow, or into next week, or into
any time in the future which lies before us, but we can
know that God will give us the light we need to find our
way when we need it, when we have faith in Him. When we
rely on our faith in God, He will direct our path
always!
"For with thee is the fountain of life:
in thy light shall we see light."
Psalm 36:9
