"And
Enoch walked with God after he begat
Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons
and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were
three hundred and sixty and five years: And
Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God
took him."
Genesis 5:22-24
There is a spiritual lesson to be learned
in the life of the Godly man, Enoch, seventh
generation from Adam through Adam's third son,
Seth.
Enoch's daily walk was a walk of faith, a
walk of fellowship with God. He could resist
the devil and find fellowship with his
Creator, as he lived in a worldly society
headed for destruction.
The same Words are here for us today ~
through the Scriptured pages of our Bible. And
they are trying to assure us that if Enoch
could live and walk with God by faith in the
midst of his sinful generation, then we should
be able to follow his example because the
human race is the same now as it was then and
God is never changing!
Only two men were are said to have walked
with God. Enoch and Noah. And there are
actually only two men mentioned in the Old
Testament who did not die. One of them was
Enoch and the other, of course, is Elijah.
There is only one conclusion to be drawn here
about Enoch ~ he was translated into the
presence of God because of his faith, and
therefore escaped death!
The faith and deportment of the Godly man,
Enoch, draws a vivid picture and a powerful
object lesson for us today. Every believer
should be encouraged in their faith through
this.
Perhaps Enoch's experience of translation
is a preview of the coming rapture of the
Church, described in Scripture. Regardless, we
may want to take a closer look at our walk of
faith today! Can we measure up to Enoch's?
I believe in the sun even when it is not
shining, for I know it is still there. That is
faith.
I believe in love even when I do not feel
it. That is faith.
I believe in God even when I cannot see
Him. THAT IS FAITH!
Now . . . I have faith enough to believe
that ALL His children can live according to
His Word also . . . if their faith is strong
enough to really want to please their heavenly
Father.
Faith comes from knowing God loves you for
He gave up His Son. He knows who you are, and
where you are going. May you allow faith to
secure you as you rest in Him.
