Be Encouraged Today Your help is in the Lord

I DID my good deed for the day, I DONATED to the local food pantry and besides I am always giving money to some charitable organization. I tithe 10% of my salary. How much more do I have to give? What else do I have to do? The answer is NOTHING but on the flip side EVERYTHING we do is DONE for God. He knows, watches and teaches us.

"Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirst and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took me in. I was naked and you clothes me, I was sick and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed You or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see you a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison and came to You? And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you in as much as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me."
Matthew 25: 34-40

If Jesus said to you, I am hungry, wouldn't you prepare the finest dinner you could for Him?
And, what if Jesus told you, I am thirsty, I bet a glass filled with the freshest, coldest refreshment would be in front of Him in a flash. Wouldn't it? How about if you were walking with Jesus and He told you He was cold. I know that I'd quickly run and get Him a jacket or sweater. You would too, because you love Him.

Loving God is the first and greatest commandment and loving others is second. Today I want to focus on loving others. Do you know what loving others means, it means being unselfish, it means being charitable, kind, caring and giving. These are traits/fruits that should be evident in our lives as we glow closer to God.

Sometimes, we are so busy at work and home that we don't take notice of our co-workers and friends. Did you ever think that maybe your co-worker could be hungry, thirsty or about to become homeless. Oh, Yes the could. Perhaps they dug themselves into such a deep financial hole that they are just barely making ends meat and they can't afford to meet their rent. Perhaps one of your closest friends is in a financial bind and about to loose their home. You know not only the person on the street who begs for money is the only one who is needy. There are many needs people right under our noses but we must take the time to look and be sensitive. You might be surprised that someone very close to you might be needy. I bet if you think hard enough, you can come up with someone who would appreciate those clothes that don't fit you any more, that you have ready to throw out.

What if your financial status changed, perhaps you lost your job and it was YOU who was about to lose your home. You would then be homeless wouldn't you? But wouldn't it be such a comfort knowing that you could depend on others to help you. You know that God blesses us daily and He wants us to give back to Him a portion of those blessings by blessing others. When we help others, we are honoring God.

If God blesses you with good health, go and visit a sick friend. Make them some soup and just call and see how they are doing. What about those in prison? If you are not comfortable with visiting them, you could send letters or cards of encouragement or donate bibles to that prison. I you have two of anything, give one away. Share what you have, for you came into the world with nothing and will leave the same say. You can't take it with you. If you see your neighbor cutting the grass, offer him a cold glass of water. If your friends sewing machine breaks, invite her over to use yours.

There are so many ways we can give to others. It does not always have to be with money. When you start giving of yourself, your time, your talents and share your blessing with others, God WILL bless you back double. Every time and everything you give and do is done unto the Lord. When you do for others, don't act like it's the biggest chore you have ever done. Do NOT grumble but do it with love. God will honor and bless you.
