Personal Holiness –
An important aspect of our
Covenant Relationship
Isa 35:8-10
8And an highway shall be
there, and a way, and it shall
be called The way of holiness;
the unclean shall not pass over
it; but it shall be for those:
the wayfaring men, though fools,
shall not err therein.
9No
lion shall be there, nor any
ravenous beast shall go up
thereon, it shall not be found
there; but the redeemed shall
walk there:
10And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs
and everlasting joy upon their
heads: they shall obtain joy and
gladness, and sorrow and sighing
shall flee away.
Illustrating Holiness 1
Richard S. Taylor tell of the
time in Japan when he watched
some gardeners working on small
roadside pine trees. Upon
inquiry he was told: “They are
trimming them so as to improve
their personalities.” If trees
need better “personalities,”
people do too.
R.S. Taylor, A return to
Christian Culture (Beacon Hill
Press of Kansas City, 1973), 14.
God is in need of our all or
nothing. I have received mails
recently asking me why not talk
about Christ than talk of the
law, pollution, and sin, et al.
My answer always is: only
perfect holiness will qualify us
for eternity with Christ. Only
perfect holiness will help us
achieve all that has been
provided for us on this side of
the earth. Holiness is the
unquestionable criteria for
dominion in the spirit and
physical world. The devil can
question anything, but not
holiness. Herod was afraid of
John the Baptist because he was
a holy man (Mark 6.20). If you
are holy, adversity will fear
you. They may come, but once
you raise your holy voice and
speak, they must give way.
After we are born again and
enter into positional holiness,
which is just a spring board to
the unlimited provisions of
eternity, we must perfect
holiness in the fear of God –
which requires immediate action,
earnestness and thoroughness in
our relationship with God. We
must not gloss over issues that
make the heart of God bleed.
It is your responsibility to
perfect holiness in the fear of
God. The Holy Spirit will not do
that for you but He will help
you when you are in difficulty.
