Give Thanks

By Marie Williams

I have found that it’s a good idea to stop for a moment and simply write down the things I am thankful for. In this busy time of the year, it is all too easy during the hustle and bustle to momentarily forget the importance of giving thanks to Father God.

To start out with, he is always faithful to meet my needs. But, he goes even further than that. So often, he has met the desires of my heart, and even blessed me beyond measure with things I never gave thought to ask for.

I believe that there is a perfect balance in making our requests known to God. I know that for me personally, I lean towards praying for others and their needs.  We cannot out give God. Yet I know that at any time, I can go boldly to the throne room of grace and ask anything according to God’s will.

Luke 6:38   Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. KJV

As I read over my personal list of blessings to be thankful for, I soon realize that the balances on the scales are heavy on one side. I indeed have so much to give thanks for…good health, a loving family, a home, protection, but more importantly, salvation and eternal life. God has been faithful to draw my family unto him. That’s not to say that every single member is saved, but in his timing, I pray that it will be the case. I rejoice in every good and perfect gift that comes from him and praise his holy name.

May this Christmas give you reason to reflect, praise and rejoice in the goodness of God.
